Herstmonceux Medieval Festival - August Bank Holiday 2019
Things to do - August Bank Holiday Weekend 2019
At Expert Skip Hire we're passionate about supporting local events so if you've never been before or are looking for something to do towards the end of August, why not check out the Herstmonceux Medieval Festival which runs for 3 days from Saturday 24th to Monday 26th August 2019 (Bank Holiday weekend).
Now entering its 27th year at the castle, it's one of the last summery things to do before people begin to turn their attention to the new school term and the fast approaching Autumnal weather.
Herstmonceux Castle, Wartling Rd., Hailsham BN27 1RN
The official Herstmonceux Castle website typically describes the event as a complete family day out so if you have the kids in tow, the Herstmonceux Medieval Festival is sure to keep them entertained. As you'd expect, you can usually enjoy such traditional things as Knights jousting competitions, mock castle sieges, magnificent Grand Parades together with a whole host of craftsmen and traders to impress you with their skills. There is usually a Kid’s Kingdom and a Crafts & Games area for the kids too along with various workshops and demonstrations. Also don't be surprised if you see minstrels, court jesters, magicians; and mud shows! If you're peckish, traditional hog roasts are usually available as well.
Herstmonceux Medieval Festival 2019 Attractions:
We don't yet have a complete lineup for the 2019 festival but previous years have typically included the following activities and attractions:
- An archery tournament
- Axe throwing
- Lots of traders and stalls
- Sword school
- Drum school
- Medieval food to try
- Medieval music
- Living history
- A Grand Parade
- A Kids' Kingdom
- DIY workshops
We've no doubt that many of the above activities will be included in the 2019 event but you must check the website first to confirm what the 2019 Herstmonceux Medieval Festival will offer.
You can either just visit for the day or you can stay over at their campsite (with glamping option). You can also book to stay in the castle (but you'll need to check availability for this first).
