The Skip Hire Process
If you're not familiar with the the process of hiring a skip or large container in Sussex, our FAQs page contains most of the information you'll need. Alternatively, our committed team are on hand to answer all your questions; there's no obligation to book and we can usually provide you with the information you need in just a few minutes.
In some cases you'll need a skip permit from you local Sussex Authority, especially if you intend on placing your skip on a public highway. We can often apply for these on your behalf and also give additional advice on how to meet all the required safety legislation. If you're unsure of the size of skip you'll need to hire, just call or email our team with a brief description of the type of waste material you're looking to dispose of, and a rough idea of the amount and we'll ensure you hire the right size of skip to meet the task.
Skip Hire Regulations
We're a registered waste carrier and by law, we're required to dispose of all skip waste we collect in the right way. We work closely with East Sussex County Council to ensure that we continue to meet all necessary Legislation and we're also listed on the public register of waste carriers by the Environment Agency. There are now strict rules regarding how we dispose of the waste we collect, and we currently recycle over 90% of the all the material we accept at our Sussex depot - Not only is this good for the environment, it also helps keep our skip hire prices the lowest in our area.
Sussex Skip Delivery and Collection
If you need a skip delivered fast, we can often arrange a 3 hour turnaround for skip deliveries and collections (or a skip exchange) throughout most parts of Sussex within a 3 hours window from the time of booking. The booking process is quick and easy and can be done by email or over the phone. If you email us, one of our office team will be in touch to confirm the details of your booking. We offer a same day service to the majority of Sussex or we can deliver at a future date chosen by you.
What can't I put in my skip?
Most everyday items and household rubbish can be put in your skip such as paper, cardboard, food waste, plastic, wood, furniture, soil, clay, brick and glass.
Please note: If you're intending to fill your skip with exceptionally heavy waste such as soil or clay, you'll need to be mindful of the size you order as we can't accept heavy items in certain sizes of skips.
There are also restrictions on certain items that, by Law, we're not allowed to accept at our Sussex recycling facility. These include:
- Car tyres
- Fridges & freezers
- All liquids
- Fluorescent tubes & light bulbs
- Gas bottles
- Clinical waste/ medical items
Wait and Load
We also offer a 'Wait and Load' service throughout Sussex that provides a great alternative to having a skip left at you premises. This is ideal for those who want their waste removed immediately or for those who are unable to obtain a permit for the road that they live in. Quite simply, one of our drivers will arrive at the designated time, wait for the skip to be loaded, then leave as soon as it's full. Another benefit of this type of service is that no permit is required as the skip isn't left 'in situ' so this keeps the cost down to a minimum.
Sussex Grab Lorry Hire
Our bespoke grab hire service is now available in Sussex. The grab lorry can usually be loaded/ unloaded in around 20 minutes by our skilled drivers so no permit is required for this particular service. The total capacity is around twice that of a standard sized skip and the grab arm can extend to around 6 metres; it can therefore easily reach over walls and fences if required.
Our grab hire service is typically used within the construction industry and the grab lorry can be used for various tasks such as the collection, recycling and disposal of soil, concrete and hardcore. It's also great for driveway preparation, house foundations, home extensions, garden ponds and paths. Get in touch with our team to find out more about our cost effective Sussex grab hire service.
Commercial and Industrial Waste Management Solutions
Aside from our domestic skip hire service in Sussex, we also provide a range of cost effective waste management solutions to the trade and industrial sectors too. We can offer long term skip or container hire to businesses such as hotels, pubs, restaurants, shops and offices. Your skip can be left on site for as long as needed, then collected or exchanged when full. There are many options to choose from and because we recycle over 90% of all the trade and domestic waste we collect, we can keep our prices low. Contact us for more information today about our contract waste management solutions.

We also hire roll on/ off (RoRo) bins to the commercial sector which are primarily used within the building and construction industry. These come in 3 sizes; 20, 35 and 40 cubic yards.
